EASTBOURNE — Residents of an Eastbourne neighbourhood have stood down following a major community security operation sparked by the appearance of a "suspicious white van."

The vehicle was first reported at 10.14am after a resident noticed it driving slowly along the road before stopping outside several properties.

Within minutes, the local community Facebook group had mobilised.

"Anyone know why there's a white van going up and down the road?" one concerned resident reportedly asked.

Another confirmed they had also seen it.

This was considered significant.

Investigation Intensifies

Residents began monitoring the vehicle from windows while exchanging increasingly detailed intelligence.

One witness reported that the driver had "some sort of handheld device."

Another noticed several cardboard boxes inside the van.

A third resident confirmed the driver had approached a front door, left a parcel and returned to the vehicle.

Suspicions increased considerably.

Mystery Finally Solved

After approximately 40 comments, somebody asked the revolutionary question:

"Isn't he delivering parcels?"

The investigation immediately collapsed.

The van was confirmed to be carrying an Amazon delivery driver performing Amazon deliveries.

Residents expressed relief but defended the response.

"You can't be too careful these days," one neighbour said.

"He was stopping outside people's houses."

Investigators confirmed this remains relatively common among delivery drivers.

Community Returns To Normal

The original Facebook post was eventually updated to confirm there was "nothing to worry about."

However, several residents insisted it should remain online just in case.

Normality returned shortly afterwards.

At 11.03am, another post appeared.

"Anyone else just hear a massive bang?"

The community investigation continues.
